Not Just a Stare

‘I’ve been a daydreamer for as long as I can remember’. For Anne, daydreaming has brought her a lot of good qualities, for example the possibility to visualize new creative ideas. Starting this project, she realized that a lot of people are not familiar with the concept of daydreaming. Where one might find recognition in this project, she encourages others who are not familiar with the subject to take a moment and push the boundaries of their imagination.

‘Not Just a Stare’ by Anne van den Ham is an installation capturing the process of daydreaming. With the stairs as a symbol for the start of a new daydream, Anne tried to visualize the moment of drifting away from reality. The spoken word is guiding you into a daydream, while the stairs are morphing into different shapes, taking you by the hand towards your imaginary world.
